Vinyl VS. TRULOG
Compare strength, maintenance, cost, and appearance between vinyl siding and TruLog® steel siding to find the best long-term choice for your home.
Vinyl may look budget-friendly upfront, but its fading, cracking, and frequent replacements add up. TruLog Steel Products deliver lasting durability, zero maintenance, and real log appeal that saves time and money.
Vinyl siding expands in heat and becomes brittle in cold, leading to cracks, bulging, and distortion over time.
UV rays break down vinyl’s pigments, causing colors to fade unevenly and lose curb appeal.
Vinyl sidin can dent or shatter from hail, debris, or lawn equipment, requiring frequent replacements.
Limited recyclability; less eco-friendly compared to steel.
Vinyl siding lasts only about 20–30 years and often looks artificial compared to higher-quality materials.
One-time investment with long-term savings.
No repainting, staining, or sealing required.
Fade-resistant, weatherproof, and backed by a 30-year warranty.
100% recyclable, eco-conscious steel design.
Authentic log look in multiple woodgrain colors and profiles
COST COMPARISION
While vinyl siding may seem budget-friendly upfront, the hidden expenses of repainting, sealing, and replacing add up fast. TruLog Steel Products eliminate ongoing costs, giving you a one-time investment that lasts for decades with zero maintenance.
💰 Upkeep and replacements can add thousands of extra dollars over 20–30 years.
✅ Costs more upfront but provides lifetime savings, durability, and peace of mind.
DURABILITY & SAFETY
Vinyl siding is vulnerable to fading, cracking, and damage from weather and temperature changes — often needing repairs or replacement. TruLog Steel Products are engineered to resist rot, pests, fading, and fire, so your home stays protected year after year with virtually no maintenance.

Building or remodeling is a big decision, and we want you to feel confident every step of the way. Here are some of the most common questions homeowners ask about TruLog® steel siding.
TruLog® siding is made from heavy-duty steel with a baked-on finish. With proper installation, it can last 40+ years without rotting, warping, or fading like wood or vinyl.
There are many options to choose from in the log siding industry including steel log siding, real wood log siding, concrete log siding, and vinyl log siding.
Steel log siding from TruLog™ has no maintenance! You don’t have to paint, stain, or seal our steel log panel like other log siding materials. You can just wash it off with a garden hose! Wood log siding will require you to stain or paint and seal it every 2-3 years. Concrete log siding will need to be sealed every 1-2 years. Vinyl log siding doesn’t require regular maintenance, but is much more prone to fade and chalk and the panels must be replaced rather than repainted.
To get the most accurate material estimate, we will need the measurement of your home including: the length and width of your home, the wall height, the pitch of your roof, and the dimensions of your doors and windows. Learn more about how to measure for TruLog™ siding, and contact us for an estimate when you’re ready.
TruLog siding is made from high-quality, heavy-gauge steel with a durable, baked-on finish. It’s designed to look like real wood logs or wood grain siding while providing superior strength, weather resistance, and zero maintenance.
TruLog offers a variety of profiles, including log siding, lap siding, and board and batten steel siding. Popular colors include Cedar, Dark Walnut, Autumn Brown, and Weathered Gray, among others.
