H-Starter (Starter strip) is the first siding accessory you will install on your home because it is the starting point for your whole installation.
The Starter strip is used to lock the first panel of our metal log home siding to your home.
J-Channel is a type of channel named after its shape according to the alphabet letter it resembles, “J”. J-Channel is installed around doors and windows to accept the TruLog log cabin siding.
The j-channel fits tight against the outer edge of your doors and windows and is screwed into the wall, not the window itself. When installing the log siding, the siding slides into the channel to hide the cut siding.
Sill is used to cover the cut edges of steel when you cut your panel down to fit around your doors and windows.
Frieze board is one of the last siding accessories to install on your log home. Frieze board is used where the top metal siding panel meets your soffit.
Normally, you would have to cut the siding almost perfect or install another piece of
j-channel to accept the siding. Not anymore with frieze board! This L-shaped metal snaps directly into the soffit j-channel and covers up your cut log siding.
No more having to cut the siding to exact lengths since it can be covered up by the frieze board.
For inside corners, we use double j-channel, butted together. You can bury one
j-channel in the corner and the other one can butt next to it.
For more information watch our Inside Corner & Elevation Change Install Video
Corner bases and caps are used to cover up the corners of your house and hide the cut metal siding. A corner base is applied to the home so the corner cap can be snapped on over the top.
Corners provide your home with that finished look as well as protects the end of your TruLog steel board & batten siding.
Bold window and door trim is an optional trim piece that gives your doors and windows a bold, trimmed out, look. This trim piece is installed after all your siding is up and you are ready to finish the job. With the bold window and door trim, you still need to use j-channel around your doors and windows and then this trim piece slides in between the window frame and the j-channel for a tight, friction hold.
Outlet J-block or utility j-block is used for your outlets, spigots, and any smaller exterior pipe or wire penetrations. It can split in half to fit around these areas and the beauty ring is adjustable to snap into the base. This j-block makes it easier to install our siding around those exterior penetrations.
Light J-Block is very similar to the outlet/utility j-block and serves as the attachment point of your lights. You mount this to the wall, cut the appropriate hole out for your wires, side around it, snap the beauty ring on, and then mount your light to it. Makes installing lights in the siding a breeze.
