If you’ve just bought a log cabin, you may be wondering how to decorate its interior. Most log cabins have rustic decorations, so you’ll still get a sense of enjoying the great outdoors indoors. While it’s certainly possible to live in a log cabin year round, most people just use theirs for the summer, so decorate thinking that they won’t be spending much time in it.
However, there are some wonderful easy ways to decorate your log cabin to make it seem more homely. Doing this means that if you do decide to spend winter there, or if you are at the cabin when the weather isn’t so kind, you’ll still be able to enjoy it!
Opt for an open plan living space
Most people who have cabins use it as somewhere where they can spend time with their family and friends. Bearing this in mind, it’s a good idea to make sure that the living area is open plan, maximising on space for one room where everybody can be together. Make sure that you have plenty of comfortable seating for everyone, perhaps including bean bags if you run out of space for couches.
Split Level
If you don’t have much floor space, you may want to add a mezzanine level. This could be for extra living space, or even a bedroom. Most cabins can accommodate an extra level; even if the room has a low or sloping ceiling.
Modern decor
If you have a say in the design of your log cabin, you might want to consider some modern decor. Many cabin owners consider modern features when decorating their cabins; this means less exposed wood and brickwork, and more contemporary plastering and heating. These cabins do, of course, cost more – but they have an extra air of comfort and sophistication.
As you can see, with a little creativity, there are lots of ways you can decorate your cabin interior and make it more you, depending on the space provided.
