Your dad’s done a lot for you over the years, including, hopefully teaching you the art of grilling. This Father’s Day give Dad the day off and let him enjoy his time at the cabin fishing, boating, or just relaxing as you grill for him at the cabin. If your dad never managed to pass his grilling wisdom on to you, don’t worry. We have you covered with some epic grilling treats that are sure to impress him.

We can’t promise that your dad won’t jump in and take over because, after all, that’s what a lot of dads do best when it comes to grilling. But at least you can gather up the ingredients and get the grilling started. You might even introduce him to a new favorite recipe or two!

Jack Daniel’s grilled steak

If your dad loves the taste of Jack Daniels whiskey, he’s going to flip for this Jack Daniels-infused grilled steak. And the best part for you is that it is super simple to make. You’ll need to marinate the steaks for at least four hours before grilling (you can marinate overnight), and then just throw them on the grill and enjoy!

The recipe below comes from Diethood.com and is for four steaks. Adjust the ingredients accordingly if you have more than four people eating this delicious steak dinner.

All you’ll need are:

  • 4 8-ounce New York strip steaks
  • ½ cup Jack Daniels whiskey
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 T Dijon mustard
  • ¼ Cup light brown sugar
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • Fresh ground pepper

Place the steaks in a pan large enough to hold and that will fit in your fridge. Combine the last 7 ingredients in a bowl and whisk together then pour over the steaks. Cover the pan and marinate for at least four hours. If you have time, marinate them overnight for best results.

Take your steaks out about 30 minutes prior to grilling.

When you’re ready to eat, fire up the grill to the highest setting and put the steaks on. Grill for 6–8 minutes per side (or longer) until they reach your desired level of doneness. Serve with a salad or a side of grilled veggies.

Grilled chicken avocado Caesar salad

If your dad is on a health kick or is just trying to eat more greens and less red meat, he’ll love this fresh take on a classic. This recipe from Butter Your Biscuit is a good one if you have siblings or kids who can help you prepare the salad so that you don’t get stuck being the only one cooking for Dad! It’s also very easy to customize.  Substitute your favorite salad toppings if you don’t like the ones listed here.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need for the salad for four servings:

●      6 chicken breast tenders (can also use 2 boneless skinless breasts)

  • 6 strips cooked bacon
  • 6 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced cherry tomatoes (optional)
  • 3 sliced hard boiled eggs (optional)
  • 1 thinly sliced avocado
  • Parmesan cheese to taste
  • 1 t Kosher salt
  • 1/2 t fresh ground pepper
  • 2 cups croutons
  • 2 T olive oil

To prepare the salad, wash the lettuce and place it in a bowl. Top it with crumbled booked bacon, cherry tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, avocado, croutons, and parmesan cheese.

Meanwhile, fire up the grill. Coat the chicken with olive oil, salt, and pepper and grill for about five minutes per side. Add to the salad and top with dressing.

You can use store bought dressing or make your own by mixing together the following ingredients.
